I've been sharing progress on my blog, but now finally have some solid offerings to post - for my very own painting program, chroma.io. It's an open-source, desktop-oriented program focused on fun/engaging paint-tools and workflow efficiency for drawing/painting, while also offering an extreme degree of customization options (the entire UI is customizable, and I have some exciting things already implemented and planned for tool customization).
This is the culmination of just over 3 months of intense solo-effort, and there's still much, much more to go. My goal this year is to get a couple of solid portfolio sketches finished entirely in-app, which I'm very close to being able to do. The second big goal, as long as I don't hit any major road-blocks, is to release the first public in-dev version sometime this year. It'll be pretty bare bones, likely still won't have layers, undo, or a custom file-format, but it'll be out there for anyone interested in playing with it. This entire thing has been a solo endeavor, working with very minimalist library dependencies, and learning c++/openGL as I go, so just getting to this point was something I never expected to achieve. I half expect it to crash and burn at any moment, but getting this to a point where I could confidently cancel that Adobe subscription would be a dream come true.
